First day with Mark

brisk

NeverLostologist
So Mark arrived yesterday. It was raining yesterday and the package was quite wet when I got home. The label on the package said "weight: 120 lbs." It was heavy.

It helped that I read the manual throughly few days ago. I can see people getting frustrated with so many knobs, bottons and inputs. One of the outter power tube turned to blue so I replaced them with JJ EL34. Other than that, Mark was in a fine form.

I went to the 30 Watt tweed mode for obvious reasons. I am not too crazy about the lead channel for now, but two rhythm channels are things of beauty. I can believe why people get lost in the second rhythm channel (slightly dirty) and never be found. In the world of two channels (clean and dirty), the in-between channel is something to be heard. I ran a distortion and you can use that channel for hardrock. I didn't have enough time to play with the famed lead channel yet though.

Overall, fine amp with a very modest appearence. Here is the pic that I took with my cellphone this morning.

Re: First day with Mark

Once you dial in the lead channel you will love it. Most people say they don't use R2, but that is a great channel IMO, cause I don't like a lot of gain for my rhythm playing, I add a Bad Monkey OD with the gain set on zero if I need more sustain or a tighter bottom. I am on R2 about 90 percent of the time.

The lead channel totally rocks. The tone is amazing. Just takes a little dialing.

Not sure what you're doing but I run tweed power/triode....

After few days of playing it around, I kinda feel that the stock speaker is very middy. I am not sure if it needs to be broken-in or they intentionally desinged it that way to cut through the mixer better.
