First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Am really gassing for a neck.

Really!

And this has not happened with me for the last 5 years or more!

:banghead:

Am gonna be pairing it up with my Brobucker in my R7.

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

I couldn't hear a difference between them. My ears must really be freaking shot. Both clips sounded awesome to me, I mean just a perfect sounding pickup, but the same. Moose, NICE riffs, bro. Does anyone hear the differences on the recording? It's definitely not an accidental posting of the same clip as I checked where certain riffs come in at time marks and they're different. I guess that's what 46 year old ears hear--not much, lol.

EDIT: I listened to the clips again with Sennheiser headphones, cranked up, and to my ears, the Slash bridge is a tad hotter, but I don't know if it would be heard in a band setting or in a mix. The neck pickup is also a tiny bit hotter and thicker sounding, but I had to listen hard to hear it. Either way, I absolutely love both bridge pickup tones, and the riff Moose is playing as well. You guys seem to be hearing more than me so seriously, I chalk it up to my ears just being older and not as efficient as yours.

Same here :(

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

try different speakers or headphones, guys

nice chops moose
what amp was that, btw?
i think the the pearly bridge/A2Sb comparison is apt, can hear the difference in the neck too... definitely a little bit ballsier than stock A2Ps, and seem more focused than PGs from the clips..?
very interesting.
recently picked up a PG+ and a PGn and am expecting them to blow my feeble little mind; then the A2S set emerges...

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

From the clips it sounds to my ears at least the Slash set is ever-so-slightly hotter, and a little more defined overall. The neck pu seemed to sound a little sweeter from the clips as well. Nice! :D

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

The Slash Pickups are a little bit more "aggressive". Turn up the volume and you will hear the difference better :)

Kickass!

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

I found the difference to be very subtle on my system (which isn't amazing, but it's better than typical computer speakers). The sigs seems to have just a tiny bit extra - they're more present. But it's a very small difference IMO.

oh and thanks for letting the heads up on the contest - I'd love to win these. :)

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

The Slash AII pickups, in my opinion, sound alot thinner. Hotter, but thinner

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Prefer the neck tone in the first clip by far- the neck slash sounded flat & muddy comparitively.

The Bridge slash sounds nice though- while its got a bit more twangy/plinky high end compared to the first clip it also has a nice bloom to the notes- a little more aggressive despite sounding less beefy.

Nice playing Moose :bigthumb:- and yeah sounds like you've got a original Gary Moore sig from your description- what color is it?

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Agree with Jeff B. Neck Pearly Gates sounded better by far than the Slash Alnico II neck. Neck sounded tubby and too buttery for my taste.

The Slash Alnico II bridge did sound clearer and more powerful. Subtle but still noticeable. Seymour and co. did a fine job on this and if Slash is happy then I think they hit a home run with these.

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

The Slash bridge is certainly slightly hotter, maybe a bit tighter, but also slightly thinner. I liked it better!

The neck I prefered the PG.

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

those clips show why we all better thank our lucky stars that moose isnt entering the riff contest

good GAWD man you got CHOPS and Tone to die for

way to play

yeah, i cant hear the difference on my computer speakers either - 45 y.o. ears .. both clips sound incredible and way better than any tone i get

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Sounds like I found the perfect set for my PRS SE Singlecut Korina!!!

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

I can definitely hear the stronger mids in the Slash.

Sounds they have a slightly lower resonant peak??

I am connected to a great Hi-Fi, and fail to hear the diff's at volume :(

Re: First impressions of the new Slash AII pickups

Your description sounds exactly like what I would have expected from these. I am happy right now with my CC/A2 59N setup in my #1, but I just got that tobacco burst washburn.................

+1, same impression here.

The PG wasn't as...tubby...I suppose the word is. Maybe it's the playing, but you can definitely hear a difference on that last note. There's more spank on the PG.
