Just wanted to throw a general shout out to this forum for all I've learned here and the inspiration to experiment.
I have a PRS McCarty and I've been searching for the right neck pup for it. The 57/08 that it came with was really dark and boomy in the neck. I swapped it out for a A2P Bridge model that I had on hand already and decided to try in the neck. I generally really like A2Ps in the neck but it was a bit too dark for my taste, although much less boomy than the 57/08. I bought a Jazz neck for another guitar and decided to give it a shot in the PRS. While the EQ curve fit that guitar better than the A2P, it was a bit thin for my taste. Put the A2P back in and it was too dark again...
After pondering spending more money on something else, I read some really positive reviews on here of people using the Jazz Bridge pickup in the neck and really liking it. Also read on here that the Jazz and A2Ps are the same except for magnet types. Sooooo, I decided to learn how to do mag swaps. Put the A5 from the Jazz Neck into the A2P Bridge to and vise versa to make a Jazz Bridge and A2P neck.
I put the Jazz Bridge in the neck of my PRS and it's perfect. It has enough brightness to cut through a mix better, but a bit more heft from the hotter wind. It's really an awesome pickup in the neck of this particular guitar.
So that's my most recent pickup journey. Thanks to all on here who have been willing to share their knowledge and experience over the years.
