Re: First Night With DFHS

Could definately use some more mixing as far as the levels on the drums goes...but they do sound quite a bit more natural than the previous version. How's the learning curve on programmin em?

Re: First Night With DFHS

Wow, that is great, Jeff! :)

Got some questions for you!
1. Is that one of your compositions?
2. What did you use for programming the drum patterns?

By the way... i think that a wee bit more treble\presence on the drums would make them sound a bit punchier! Great drum sounds anyway!

DFHS or what is that f***in thread about????
DRUM KIT FROM HELL SUPERIOR

Re: First Night With DFHS

I just thought DFHS was a pack of samples, with no software for programming?

Calm down, man! :)

Re: First Night With DFHS

yea.. you need a midi program to make the drums, then you assign the samples to the coresponding midi .. at least thats how DKFH works.. no clue about the supperior one

Re: First Night With DFHS

Superior is DFH (way more samples, took me 5 hours to install all 35 gigs) with a built in Kontakt type sampler, so you don't have to use something like Battery.

I've been listening more to it, and I definately need more work on it! I've got some idea's, though, so it shouldn't be too hard.

And yes, Erl, this was one of mine :p.

Learning curve is slim to none, actually. The hardest part was writing up a new midi map for all the hits. There's samples for left and right hand for every piece, as well as like 15 different hi-hat things to mess with.

Wow that kicks, good job man, Thats the first time iv heard of that program, I see that it is not at all cheap either. Do you just jam to this and it sets itself or do you have to punch in the tempo and preset the whole track? Can you also bring in tracks from another source?

Re: First Night With DFHS

Updated, got it sounding better!

It's not at all that expensive for what you get, actually. You set the tempo and select each hit for the beats.

Re: First Night With DFHS

Man... I can't get a sound I'm satisfied with (with the POD) I still need to work with DFHS a bit, but damn... I'm just going to leave my Recto mic'd up once I get it setup this weekend.

Re: First Night With DFHS

you can pan the drums on your recording program or you can record it in 2 tracks and pan it.anyways is not a problem.
i use DKFH wav samples with ableton live and all i do is making 5 different tracks for kick ,snare ,2 for the cymbals and toms/percussion..And i can double them if needed. For a better sound ,u can use different tracks with different rewerb settings. This helps to make it more real.Lots of work but sounds better.

Re: First Night With DFHS

The newer drums sound more natural and realistic, but in a band-performing-live-in-a-college-radio-station's-studio sort of way that seems less a lot less polished/produced. If that's what you're going for, cool, but for my money the older drums fit the music better.

Of course, I can really only make out the cymbals and snare on my teensy computer speakers at work, so a huge grain of salt should be taken with my feedback. :laugh2:
