What would be a good "real" 50-100W amplifier that would do a good job for blues, rock and jazz? Marshall, Fender or something else? Should I get a tube?

I'm going to use it on a spacious restaurant for my cousin's wedding in 3 months' time and she wanted me to play for them. Because of my country's financial crisis and people being more interested in gasp, cellphones, the major music stores have toned down their stocks and I only have limited access to what I could hear and play hands on.

Thanks in advance!

No need to go so high on the wattage. Check into something like a Peavey Classic 30. That will do all 3 styles well.

What he says - Peavey classic 30 - flob, ploople, bump and grind available - oh yeah - what guitar are you using?

Classic 30 or Classic 50 would be a good choice. I like the Classic 50 better, but a 30 should be enough for most gigging situations.

Marshall JCM 800 :P

Hehe, probably more than what you need though. The peavey classics and even the crate vintage club type amps will suit you just fine.

I'm gonna suggest the Fender Pro Reverb or Super Reverb

Re: First "real" 50W amp for rock, blues and jazz

anything blonde or blackface fender from 61-68. 50 watts or below-bassman, bandmaster, pro reverb, super reverb, deluxe reverb, vibroverb, vibrolux.....any of these used will do the job very well and last you forever with good maintenance habits....

Re: First "real" 50W amp for rock, blues and jazz

a silverface would get too much headroom here, i think.

What i think you're hinting at is a deluxe reverb. Something good for a restaurant/club but pretty loud and simple. can't go wrong.
