Re: First Real Gig Please Advice
Remember to soak everything in warm water overnight! Otherwise it will all bind up once it gets hot on stage! This includes guitars, pedals, amps, everything! If you don't have a swimming pool with warm water, you'll each have to use your own bath tubs. Since bassdrums and guitar cabinets are really big and won't soak, you can just run the shower on them for about 10 mintes, but you have to use HOT water and make sure you get the speakers really good. Very important step.
Also make sure you change all your strings (bass too) and drum heads RIGHT BEFORE THE SHOW to make sure they're totally fresh and less likely to break.
Also when you're tuning between songs, it's OK to use a tuner but make sure you can still hear your guitar through the amp. When the crowd and soundman hear you tuning they know to wait a minute and won't think you're just messing around up there.
Whoever is running sound, make sure to constantly let them know what needs fixed or changed while you play, loudly over the microphone. They need the constant feedback from you to know how to mix things.
Hope this helps!!!!!
