Fitting a SD antiquity mini humbucker in a tele body

Since I have no "humbucker" guitars, I am wanting to put together a tele with a Seymour duncan antiquity mini-humbucker in the neck position, and a lil 59er in the bridge.

What do I need to do to accomodate the Antiquity mini humbucker in the neck position?

Should I get a body that is routed for a soap bar pickup at the neck?

What do the screws in the pickup mounting ring attach to?
the top of the guitar through the pickguard?

Thanx in advance for your help & guidence

You can either use the mini's pickup ring on top of the existing pickguard (screws through both guard and ring). I've seen many guitars like that, works fine as long as there is enough space to the strings. If it's too close the additional size of the ring might get in the way of playing.

Or you need a new pickguard. But then you are limited in how high you can take the pickup. Should be fine but better be sure.

A soapbar route will be the right size.
