Flame jobs

Re: Flame jobs

That's a cool link! I think I was at that site when I did my 1st flame job. Free hand is pretty much how you do it. I drew out a template, then cut it out. As I taped the guitar I just layed the template on for reference. I think it's easier to go completly freehand on a car, Cuz' you have lots of space to loop the tape. It's very tight on a guitar. You really need a plan.

Re: Flame jobs

on a custom job or other 1 off, everything is done by hand.. its how the pro's do it

if you need lots of guitars/whatever you gotta have a template or you'll be doing them forever.. and thx for the linkage =)

Re: Flame jobs

Cool deal, guy does nice stuff and looks like he is a pretty good 'striper as well.

Anyone interested in this stuff should really look into the work of Von Dutch and Big Daddy Roth too.

Re: Flame jobs

I find it interesting how many car painting techniques get used in the guitar world .not to mention all the rat fink drawings and racing stripes.. but, I have yet to see a cherry sunburst on a hotrod! hmmmmmm come to think of it .. that might look cool!
