Flattening pickguard

Re: Flattening pickguard

Large flat cookie sheet covered in ice

Once it's hot

Set ice cookies on it
To cool and flatten

Re: Flattening pickguard

It might be very flammable. I would advise against heating a celluloid pickguard (and if you don't know the material, I'd err on the side of caution.)

Re: Flattening pickguard

A hair dryer wont start a fire

Just get it warm till it relaxes
Then set the pan of ice on it till it cools

Re: Flattening pickguard

Maybe try what I did with a couple records that were badly warped. Heat up a massive pot of water, sit the pickguard between two sheets of glass if available (I used photo frame sheets that I had on hand), tea towel between the pot and sheet. since it's just plastic, and not vinyl that can have the tracks damaged, you could get away with baking trays. Worth a try anyway.

Re: Flattening pickguard

This is a good thread. I have a couple pickguards that need the same treatment. And one is an old Dano.

Re: Flattening pickguard

Couldn’t you just buy a replacement pickguard?
They are relatively inexpensive...
