Putting in an A4 will help achieve that. But remember, your wood has an EQ of it's own, so it it's skewed to one part of the spectrum as most are, a flat EQ PU only emphasizes that. If you have a bright-toned wood, you'd want a PU that has more mids & lows.

The solution is to use magnets & pots once a PU's in, and after you see where you're at, to balance your EQ. You really can't do that ahead of time. All woods are not created equally, in fact, no two pieces are identical due to grain, density, water content, mineral content, etc.
