Flipping pickup over on P-Bass

I play a Fender alder/maple neck standard P-Bass with a Duncan Quarter Pound pickup. Today I got the crazy idea to flip the pickup over to where the a and e strings get pickup closer to the bridge, does that make any sense? Just flipped over. Would this do anything drastically to the sound?

welcome to the forum!!

it does make sense and some other companys do just that. it makes sense, the e/a poles are closer to the bridge giving a little brighter sound with more clarity and the d/g poles are closer to the neck giving a warmer tone. a good idea, but to do that on your bass means cutting a couple holes in it.
