I am looking to replace the tremolo block to a big brass one from floydugrades.com and was wondering is the mod worth it? Also what size would fit my guitar which is a sugizo esp s-1 signature with original floyd rose tremolo. Also im looking at blocking the tremolo in case it affects the size of the tremolo block.
i got info on this

Flush-mount bridges (Vintage/Floyd Rose): 42mm
Recessed bridges (Floyd Rose): 37mm
Deeply recessed bridges (Floyd Rose Pro): 32mm

but i have no idea what it meant

Heres my guitar specs

ESP Eclipse S-I Brilliant MixedMedia Specifications:
Body: Alder
Neck: 3-piece Hard Maple
Fingerboard: Ebony (24 frets)
Scale Length: 628mm
Nut: Locking
Construction: through Neck
Bridge: Original Floyd Rose

Can you measure the height of your existing block?

The decision to block the trem shouldn't affect the length of the block; the trem should still be at the same height and level with the face of the guitar. You want to make sure that the springs are more or less parallel to the body of the guitar, and that the block and springs never touch the cover for the trem cavity, no matter how the bridge might move. Finally, the hooks in the block need to be stable -- no slipping out.

I have the brass block on one of my guitars. It's an Ibanez RG270DX with an OFR. I used the 32mm block, same as I did with my Jackson SL3 (also with an OFR). The bridge is recessed in both cases.

I did not compare the brass block from FloydUpgrades with the standard block, because the standard block was too long and would not allow me to assemble the guitar in a playable condition. That said, I think the guitar -- after the addition of the brass-block Floyd -- sounds beefier and thicker than it did before, and moreso than the neck-through Jackson that has a steel block. The Jackson, for what it's worth, has a nice bell-like quality and a lot of bite. The Ibanez with the brass block has more growl.

That's all I know; I wish I had more scientific comparisons.

stick something in to the base of the trem and measure it but I will say it is most likely 42mm

I've been looking at these as well. Would also be curious to hear any real world experiences and "tone" improvements, or lack thereof.

You just need to measure the one that is in your guitar now and order the same size.

Your existin block will have the correct number on it. FWIW, I'm betting yours is a 37.

Floyd Rose ships their Floyds with 37's so its likely that most manufacturers build their guitars to fit the 37.

I am pretty sure the Floyd Rose on my ESP was 32. It is easy enough to measure so imo there is no point in taking the chance by ordering without measuring.
