Floyd Rose Help

Re: Floyd Rose Help

I drilled down through a deep well socket into a scrap piece of 2x4. The socket steadied the drill bit and kept it straight, and when I was done I simply used the 2x4 as my new guide. Marked my bit depth with tape, and proceeded. Not really for the faint of heart but it can be done without a "pro" or a drill press.

If no drill press, imho set up a clamped down jig and drill it by hand. As in entirely 100% by hand, no power tools

Re: Floyd Rose Help

Step drill bit is very useful to start the new bigger hole to make sure it's centered

Re: Floyd Rose Help

I would also suggest changing the locking nut. I've had some of mine get those deep string marks that make them slip slightly. For me that's the first place to look when this happens, not only because it's equally likely that the problem is there, but because it's cheaper to solve.
