Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

quicker to snatch it out and stow the guitar in the case
and to grab it out of the case, and stab it in

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

If it's anything like the Gotoh setup, you can set up how floppy the arm is. Like do you want it to stay in one spot or do you want it to point at the ground when you're not using it?

I'm not sure if the retrofit part from Floyd Rose does that. Does anybody have one of these already to testify?

I meant whether or not it has that annoying wiggle of the arm that prevents precise control

Gotcha.

I haven't had that problem so much, but I do tend to keep my arms kinda tight so they stay within reach instead of flopping downwards, which also keeps them from being so wiggly.

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

My Ibanez RG4 has an Edge III with a push in arm

It appears as stiff and firm as the arms on my vintage trem strats

as Gilmore said, mine has a adjustment that sets how floppy it is
mine is set to where it doesn't flop

but it does give fairly accurate bends and wiggles

I think it's slightly different than the retrofit arm that the OP is talking about.

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

Ibanez Edge/Lo Pro has a a push-in arm with nylon bushings to keep it snug, so one can't really adjust the tension. They do wear eventually, so if one wants a tight arm, replacement of bushings or adding something to their surface (e.g. tape) is necessary. I prefer a completely loose arm so I don't mind the wear and tear.

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

My Ibanez has a straight arm with the bushing in the block
And a set screw for tension

From what I'm seeing, they're just like the standard PRS trem arm, which I'm not a huge fan of at all. My uncle has one of the SE Tremonti's and if you move that guitar wrong or something, the arm falls right out. Imagine being on stage and you're rockin' and you move wrong once and drop the arm. If I get a trem equipped guitar it has to have a arm secured to the guitar.

Re: Floyd Rose Push-In Arm?

I got one and I love it...

It cures the problem of the arm wiggle Floyds have had lately... I have a 90's German made Floyd which has the threaded collar, and I never have any problem with play in the arm, same with the Schaller made Jackson Floyd on my 80's Jackson.

Once Floyd started manufacturing some Floyds in Korea for OEM, I noticed there was a bit of play in the trem arm. I've tried every suggestion- Teflon tape, replacing the arm assembly with a German made collar and arm, but the play keeps coming back..

I installed the new push in arm, and the play is eliminated. The spin on the arm is loose but can be tightened by the screw- just like the Gotoh Floyd on my old EBMM.. It hasn't fallen out.. It eliminates the play when you push down or pull up

For those Ibanez arm, a quick fix is to remove the bushings, apply nail polish, let dry and put the bushings back on. It tightens the feel
