Floyd Rose

Re: Floyd Rose

It depends on what you mean by 'using'. You can tune it up like a regular guitar and never touch the whammy bar, or even have the system fastened, no doubt. If you mean that you want to replace it by something else, like a hardtail, then it is probably more work than it is worth.

Re: Floyd Rose

Yes you can even make it so that the bridge never moves at all and you don’t need to use the locking but.

I wouldn’t recommend this though. It’s so easy to change strings on my explorer, nothing to unlock etc.

Re: Floyd Rose

You certainly can! If it's floating you can block it as well to avoid any pitching up due to hand placement (if you're not used to it) or if you want to do drop tuning's etc. The majority of my guitars have floyds, and I've found recently that most of them don't even have the bar in them currently. Doesn't mean in 6 weeks I'm not gunna be bar-happy though hah.

Dumb question. Yes.

I hate this kind of bull**** on here. It's a newbie question, yes, but don't you remember starting out? I've asked LOTS of 'dumb questions' in my life and in this forum in particular. That's how you learn. Hell, look at what I asked 13 years ago https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?44445-Would-this-work Not to mention all the other 'stupid' stuff I've asked / said on this forum.

Just because it applies to you, doesn't mean it applies to other people as well.

This needs to be said far more often. Thank you, good sir.

no dump at all, in fact I got one pup that it can be heard via ordinary headphones directly on guitar : SEYMOUR DUNCAN LIVEWIRE METAL!!!

Now, regarding floyd stability and such the greatest product with no mods to the guitar (I MEAN NO MODS / no holes, nothing permanent) is this :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH3Mtz90HQY

Re: Floyd Rose

If you can't ask a guitar question on a guitar forum then WTF is the point of the forum ?

Re: Floyd Rose

These sorts of questions might be based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what a Floyd actually does, in which case further discussion might be fruitful, rendering the question a useful thing to ask.

When I was fourteen I figured you used the trem by rotating (not depressing) the arm, but there weren't as many easily available internet resources back then. Imagine my shock when someone pushed it down...

Hmmm... Then there are the clueless souls who don't know the correct terminology for gear, the procedures to use them, or even the existence of some common guitar stuff.
Back in the 80's I had some kid come in the shop and wanted a "screaming bar" for his Hondo Strat copy (he meant a Floyd).
Another kid wanted his "aperture adjusted" (he meant truss rod).
I had a touring pro flip out because he had never seen a string winder.... (just a buck at the front counter on your way out, sir).
A student's dad was upset because "the factories don't tune these things before they ship them" (do your tires wear out on your car, sir?).

It takes all kinds of people to make a world. Some of them are stoopid.

Re: Floyd Rose

I was pretty sheltered and my parents looked at electric guitar like the Amish look at an electric razor. I admit I was once "stupid" with pride, at the thought that I might be less so now.

Re: Floyd Rose

Ignorance is a temporary thing. If one wishes, learning is available.

Stoopid is when one refuses to learn. Thankfully, they are few.
