Real FLoyds actually come with a brass block, just a thin one.
For the puny pot metal blocks on a normal Floyd, a brass block is essential.
I did notice a pleasing difference with the Floyds, so I hope to be just as happy with the Ibanez.
Eh, no worries, I keep the Strat with no backplate since the stock one is white (and now I have a black pickguard) plus the blue Washie but that's also because I've lowered the trem to be flush with the body and now the block hits the plate. Thanks Manos! I knew the FU ones came in dif sizes. The biggest doesnt allow you to use the back plate.. personally,my retentive self, I like the plates on.... Cracks me up (and annoys me) that every trem guitar I ever see in pawn shops has no back plates..
Yes, nicer and mine came with stainless hardware. I can't say if that is standard, but when you buy them 5-6 at a time, you get some perks.
While I would not call it polished jewelry, they are finished better than the "other" place.
Finally, you can't beat the price.
Guys name is Keith Hartley and he is pleasant to deal with, and ships quick.
I have two from F.U. and the difference WAS huge. The tone is way fatter and the sustain is great.
However as some mentioned the added thickness means a more limited pull-up range, or in my case, none at all. However I actually WANTED my Floyds to be down-only for various reasons so for me it worked out beautifully
BloodRose, Bro, I have the backplate on both my guitars, it's simply a matter of ordering the right height. On my Swing I removed the thin metal sheet between the base plate and block to get a good clearance but that was it so no worries there![]()
Chris, I see you have a Charvel US prod model (or darivative thereof)
What size block does that take to keep the back plate on? 37? Im thinking that when I started shopping for one, FU told me the 42 would require leaving the plate off.
I have to measure my Washie WM526 cuz it has a thin body ...
What size block did you install??
At the time that I ordered he had only just released his 41mm block so I had to special order a block milled 4mm shorter so, 37 would be the magic number for me as wellWhat size block did you install??

How do you determine which size would suit your axe?
You just want the same size you have now.
