"Flying With Eagles" - Draft

Hi guys!

Well... this song you are about to listen to, was inspired by a dream i had. I dreamt that i were flying with bald eagles over white, snowy mountains, and when i woke up i had this song in my head.

As i said, it's just a draft. It needs new guitar tracks (these ones are sloppy), better mixing, and proably a twist of lime to get up to my standards, but i'm quite happy with it. BOTH SOLOS WERE 100% IMPROVIZED! So sorry if there are any huge mistakes in the playing.

Gear used was:

PC:
-Less ram than your grandma
-Cool Edit Pro 2.0 for recording and mixing
-$20 Creative soundcard :(

Drums:
-Anvil Studio for writing the midi track
-Steinberg Groove Agent for drum samples
-Alot of cursing and swearing

Bass:
-Ibanez RD500F Fretless bass
-Digitech RP100 multi effects module

Guitar:
-Extremely cheap J&D strat ripoff i got to borrow from my uncle.
-Digitech RP100 multi effects module

As you can see, i don't have the best equipment in the world... so the tone isn't perfect.

Now i'm gonna stop excusing myself, and give you a link. And please, DO NOT give me critisim on this. I've already given myself more than i'll ever need ;)

And btw... i forgot to add something.

This song is to be played on a damn loud stereo, with your hair loose and your legs wide spread. Air guitar is opitonal ;). The reason for the fade out at the end is that i need to fix the ending, which i f'ed up :D

oohh dude i love it

it sounds like a soundtrack for a racing videogame like F - ZERO, and thats a commpliment, i really like the main riff and the production i think is flawless, it sounds also like something from MegaMan X (sorry but im a video game freak)

Thats awesome. I really liked the double tracked guitar at the end, really made the riff stand out.

Well, thanks for noticing! I wanted a malmsteen-ish vibe to it, so i "forced" myself into using a malmsteenish vibrato ;)

Great! I loved it! As someone said it does sound like something out of F-Zero or Megaman. They have awesome sounding theme songs like that.

This is well written and executed - nothing to apologize for as far as I can tell.

Now... this is not a criticism... just a thought... at the end of the verse starting about 1:20, I kept thinking it would be nice to bring the level down and then bring it back up even bigger. I don't know if that makes sense - and it's probably just me - I'm a big fan of dynamics. You did a good job of building all the way to the end - I don't know - you probably know best - that is just what I would do.

But it is really nice - thanks for sharing it with us.

No... I didn't say what I meant clearly... It doesn't sound flat at all - at least not to me.

Each verse builds nicely... I like how you layered in the sounds and built everything up. What I was suggesting really, was dropping back to the same level you started at, and then building faster to the end. I'm probably still not clear - and I'm not sure how best to say it.

I just listened to it again... The verse that runs between 1:20 and 1:40... I would drop out everything but one lead guitar and the drums at the beginning, then slowly bring in the bass and the other guitar(s) until it was at full level just before the end of the verse - this would set the verse at 1:40 up at a really high level. Just a thought... some fun stuff to play with. It may not sound as good what you have now, but it would still be fun to play with.

the bass tone is great
