Foot switch will not work - how to diagnose the problem

I have a marshall with two channels. The foot switch goes between clean/OD on one button and the second button switches between two MVs. The button for switching between clean/OD does not light up and the amp does not switch via foot switch. However, the MV switch does light up, but only works with the OD channel (clean is not designed with a second MV). Is the switch shot or is there something internally wrong with the amp? Also, the panel does not have a manual switch to go between channels, its only operable by the foot switch to go between clean/OD

First things I would try is another cable, and another footswitch. Dont try both at the same time. Try a new cable with your footswitch. Then try a new footswitch with your old cable. Do you have a friend with another footswitch you can borrow?
