footswitch issue - need work around

OK, not the most sexy subject, but....

Just got an old Kitty Hawk preamp (for cheap) that doesn't have the footswitch. I was told you need the original footswitch to change channels.

Can I get around this? Can a tech do something? Or am I screwed?:smack:

thanks

what kind of connector does it use. Most are pretty simple "shorting" systems. Try any old generic amp footswitch, and most will do it.

Yeah, but there's two types of switching methods. One is the kind where the amp wants the tip shorted out to the sleeve, and then stay that way until the next push. The other type makes then breaks that connection on each press.

Stick a guitar cable in there and short the tip to the sleeve with a paperclip, and see if the channel switches.
