pretty cool...but why would you need another marshall head if you have a slash model? not that I don't stockpile gear like armaggedon is coming.

I'm not even a Marshall fan, and that stack looks . . . formidable. ;)

Different Marshall amps have suprisingly different sounds, even within the JCM 800 line. The single channel's have a organic, Plexi on steroids sound as compared to the dual channel 800's, which have a slightly more modern, compressed and firm OD as compared to the single channels. The Slash model is even a different beast from those.

That 2203 looks to be in great shape for it's age. I'll be interested to hear what you think the differences in tone are.

Ah, you've got the 2 best 800's. What tubes are in each of them?
With those amps, tubes and bias play a big role in how good they sound. A lot of people who aren't fond of them have only heard worn out ones with a cold bias. New Tungsols and JJ power tubes, with a healthy bias, will do a lot for a good JCM 800.

Is there a sticker with the date on the chassis, or did it get torn off? Just check all over the chassis, and if it can't be found, maybe it can be dated on the Marshall site. I can't believe how much Marshall info there is on the net.

Thanks a lot for he compliments.
I know i'm a lucky guy:13:
I needed a 2203 because it an all different animal than the Slash.
The 800 is louder, ballsier, and has more crunch and kick, and is more natural sounding and aggressive than the Slash. Otherwise tha Jubilee is gainer, darker, sweeter, blusier if i could say it, a great head too ,very similar but differents. Maybe the Slash is more nasal but lacks a little of midhigh presence that the 800 has. They complement well each other. As Jeff H said the single channel is a really plexi on steroids sound. While the Slash is a more modern sounding head still keeping that ol' good vintage Marshall vibe.
Yes the 2203 it's in a good shape considering it's 25 years old. The Slash has 12ax7 Gt and sovtek el34g+, while the 2203 has her original 12ax7 EI and sed el34.About the year of production there is almost always a sticker inside but also the seral number helps: the last letter of the serial A=69' A=70' C=71' D=72 E=73' F=74' G=75' H=76' J=77' K=78' L=79' M=80' N=81' P=82' R=83' S=84' T=85' U=86' V=87' W=88' X=89' Y=90' Z=91' Z=92'
Hope this helps. Make me know if you have any questions or suggestions thanks.
Michele
