No Rory Gallagher, shame on you!

Basically, apart from some minor tweaking i do on the amp, my settings do not change.

Doc....Yes..I thought about Rory afterwards....Sorry about that...Wish he was still with us darn it!

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

Like most of you, I only tweak the amp settings. The guitars bring most of the tonal differences I'm looking for.

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

like most of the responses i leave my stuff setup the same way for all of my guitars. they all sound differen't but close enough to where i don't need to change anything. They are all tuned or used for differen't things.

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

Most of my 14-years of palying has been on accoustics, but I have had similar experiences as those adressed earlier. I like my amp setting where they are. To handle the demands of changin from a Gibson J-38 with an under-saddle transducer to my Ovation with active pups, to my 12-String with an external transducer, I have an eq pedal installed on each of my two channels on the Morley ABY. The Ovation has a built-in eq, so I bypass the pedal when playing it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I have just really gotten into the electric side of the house, but have found that I like the sounds I am getting for their applications in certain styles. I play a friends LP Custom through my rig frequently and dont really touch anything. There are certain songs that just demand unique tones from other guitars. My very own LP-style guitar will have to be purchased sooner than I had planned!!! Divorce, anyone?!? wink-wink :)

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

I don't mess with the EQ settings, just level/gain tweaks.

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

One thing I do nowadays that I didn't do when I had less guitars, is to randomly pick 3 for any rehearsal or show. That means I no longer think in terms of "main guitar." I always used to bring the same 2 guitars, but now I just say 'eeny meeny miny moe' and take any of them. I've got them all setup nice, and many have the same pickups in them. I found that it helps a lot to have the same pickups in many of them, so the differences you hear are ALL wood...no pickup differences. Since I love my guitars equally, I couldn't bear to sell any, and I can't really say I favor any. I know, it's a nice problem to have, but I like the fact that my fingers and ears can enjoy anything I pick up. This week, it's been my 3 pickup Black Beauty Custom, Schecter US Tele, and Fender Relic'd 3 color sunburst strat. All different pickups, ironically.

Re: For The Guys With Multiple Guitars

I leave my amp the same. My guitars don't have all the same pickups, but I try to keep them relatively balanced. Most of my HB guitars have Duncan Customs in them except for the guitars that are too bright. In those I use the C5 or CC.
