For Those Of You That Play Multiple Guitars And Use Straplocks

Re: For Those Of You That Play Multiple Guitars And Use Straplocks

I use Schallers, but I have had to issues with the replacement screw being smaller than the original screw so it takes some filling in order to get the screw sctay in.

I don't know about yall, but here's what I do. I use one strap with one set of Dunlop Straploks on it. I prefer Dunlop, but whatever. Anyways, about 5 years or so ago I bought a bunch of just the strap buttons that go in the guitar for about $5 per pop per set for each guitar. That way all I have to do is use the same strap and the guitars are already outfitted for me to just pick one up and push my straplok'd strap in to them. Anyways, I've since bought more guitars since that time and all. I haven't been able to find anymore of the buttons that go in the guitar until the other day. I just thought I'd pass on what I do just for the heck of it I reckon. Also, for those of you that do the same thing and need more of the buttons, here ya go. They got Dunlop and Schaller.:) I gotta order me some more.

Good deal too by the way. At least I think it is.

EDIT: Oh yeah...I love bargains man. I just can't turn them down. I just bought a brand new leather Levy's strap off of Ebay for $18. It's 3" wide and goes to 65" in length. The strap normally goes for $40 on MF and other online retailers. Here's what I got;

It's a killer strap too man. I love it!!

I use one strap cause I am kinda attached to it, but I always keep an extra one in my gig bag. I have never forgotten it yet, but other guys in my band have benefited from my spare :)

Re: For Those Of You That Play Multiple Guitars And Use Straplocks

Every guitar has it's own strap and strap locks.

Of course I do not own 40 like you, 5 is much more manageable number, so perhaps if my circumstances were different...

Same here but I have strap locks for all my guitars. Well, except for the acoustic.

Re: For Those Of You That Play Multiple Guitars And Use Straplocks

Same here, each guitar has its own strap and that strap stays with it where ever it goes. I use nothing but Schaller locks now on all my guitars. I had a bad experience with the Dunlops failing to release. I guess the plunger button decided to quit. Anyways, it was stuck on there permanently and required a dremel tool with a cutter blade to remove. What a pain.

Now I have over dozen guitars with Schallers and haven't expereinced a single problem yet.

Re: For Those Of You That Play Multiple Guitars And Use Straplocks

I like the idea to have a strap for all guitars. You know it's like the strap is a more personal thing than the guitar, haha, weird if you ask me, but it makes sence.

I use Dunlops and my brother uses Schallers (strap-locks). I think both are great. Never had a problem with either one, but I think my bro's Schallers look better as they keep the body of the guitar closer to the strap. With my Dunlops it looks like the guitar is attached by grappling hooks or something. lol

You're welcome thucydides. Anyways, I used to have pretty much one strap for each guitar, but they were always one of those little cheap nylon straps. There's nothing wrong whith those per se, it's just that I finally got a good strap.

All my straps are the same. Levy's MSS7. It's a 2 inch wide suede strap, black on one side, tan on the other.

I found one by accident about 10 years ago at the store I used to take lessons at and haven't been able to find a better one ever. I love these straps.
