For Trade: Hotrodded Tele

I am thinking of trading my tele that I got from Kac a few years back. The thing plays great and is in pretty much mint condition. It may be a bit dusty in the pictures but it is as close to new as possible with the pickups still covered with plastic. The only problem is I just don't play it. I find myself playing my les pauls more than anything. Anyway, it started life as a Squire standard telecaster and has had significant modifications. As you can see from the picture, it had a hotrod bridge installed and the pickups were changed out to a Dave Mustaine Livewire set which is very hot. It also has black Schaller strap locks. The guitar plays great and stays in tune very well. If anybody feels like doing a trade let me know what you have to offer. I in particular like les paul (especially all white with gold hardware, or goldtop) or SG style guitars. I have also recently been thinking about picking up a strat. Anyway, let me know!

Re: For Trade: Hotrodded Tele

would you be interested in another squire previously owned by Kac?

the headstock logo is cleaned off just like on that tele.

the catch is it has a great Ritchie Blackmore style scallop job done on it, and some people just aren't into the scallop...

If you're interested I'd throw in some money on my end of it.

Lemme know. PM'd u a pic.

Kac, I'll think about it. Not sure how I would do with a scalloped board since I tend to play hard. I want to also see if anybody else has anything to offer, but I will keep it in mind.

ya know the Blackmore style scallop is only done under the treble string right? just making sure....

Re: For Trade: Hotrodded Tele

I got it on eBay I think.... and had a professional install it.

Re: For Trade: Hotrodded Tele

kac, I have seen the blackmore scallop style, I just don't think it would suit me.

Jimijames, sorry for the late reply. How much fretwear is on the squier? I would hate to have to get anything done to it. I want something that is ready to be played right away.

No worries man, I decided to keep it off ebay in light of how poorly my other auctions were doing.

As for the fretwear, it's mostly below the 7th fret, in the "cowboy chord" area. Honestly, if it's lasted 20 years with this little fret wear (my other strat needed a crowning after 3 years), then I'd say you have another 5-7years or so before you absolutely need to have the frets crowned.

Honestly, it's just a matter of preference. It doesn't fret out below the 7th fret until about 1 1/2 - 2 step bends so the fretwear doesn't have any effect on playability, it's just a cosmetic issue.

If you want a more objective opinion, just ask Toner about it, he's the one I got the guitar from. I'm trying to represent it as objectively as I possibly can, but I just don't know the history of the guitar (i.e. how often it was played, what strings were used on it, other factors that affect how rapidly the frets were worn down.) To my ears/hands, it's a better guitar than most of the MIA strats I've played within the last year (I stress the word most, as MIA strats are pretty hit or miss).

The neck is second only to my '85 kramer focus in how smooth it is. The only thing(s) on it that I would consider replacing are the tremolo block and the tuners, but that would only be for more sustain, as far as staying in tune is concerned, this guitar is as good as my Highway 1 strat with locking tuners.

Honestly, just PM toner. He's had the guitar for far longer than I have, I've only had the chance to play it a handful of times, and what you're getting is only my inital impression. But I can say that it's better than my inital impression was of 85% of MIA fender strats.
