Forgive me fellow pedal freaks... I committed a huge sin

I traded 2/3 of my pedal collection and my old amp for an Egnater Rebel 30.

But oh, how glorious the pedals that escaped the purge will sound with it. ...pics of what's left to follow once roll call us taken.

Sometimes you just have to purge the collection.

I don't think you need forgiveness. Just admiration. Nice trade.

Re: Forgive me fellow pedal freaks... I committed a huge sin

Well, I guess the fact I managed to keep all the hard to find stuff in my collection and most of the stuff I just really like says something. Anything that I really want back will be easy to find.

Is the Rebel one of the original series or the Mark IIs?

I really like those egnaters.
Better to have a nice amp than a bunch of unused pedals.

The seller wasn't completely sure but stated it was a Mk I ... Followed by "I think"

Based on its sound, it seems to be a MK II. I'm going to have to remove the back panel and see what's in there for transformers and pcb. I'm hoping it's a Mk II because I read about all the reliability issues and the second version was released to address all that.

This is true. You can have all the guitars and pedals in the world, and the only sound as good as the amp they are used through.

Re: Forgive me fellow pedal freaks... I committed a huge sin

It seems it's one of the original Rebel 30's. Green PCB (the Mk II has red) with a date stamp of June 30, 2009. If I'm not mistaken that's a real early example of the model. Didn't they debut them at Winter NAMM that year?

So, given its age and it still works, either I got one of the good ones or the problems that plagued the originals already surfaced and were corrected.

I wonder if it would be worth while to replace the transformers with better ones when I can afford to.

Re: Forgive me fellow pedal freaks... I committed a huge sin

Maybe it's because I'm not used to using a true clean tone, but my drive pedals weren't very impressive on the clean channel... However, I LOVED the ones I have tried on the dirty channel.

I probably just need to spend more time with it to fully understand how this amp reacts on the clean channel and tweak the pedals more. I'd tweak the clean channel except that I think getting the response I want by the amp side of the equation involves adding volume to make it compress more. The watts knob is already set to one watt.

It's 7 years old and still works so I think it's escaped the Mk I curse.... And I buckled it in with the seatbelt to keep it from bouncing around in the car. Amp is intact.

Never put the volume over 3 on either channel, so nobody was skinned alive from all the air this thing moves either. Lol

Btw, is that an old reel-to-reel hiding behind the Fender case?

Sure is. I inherited it from my father-in-law. No clue if it works. Some day, I plan to attemp to record with it. He used it for audio playback. Even had store bought albums on reels.

Pedals are nice. But a good amp makes a world of difference. Pedals can just emphasize that goodness.

Re: Forgive me fellow pedal freaks... I committed a huge sin

Exactly. I needed more headroom and volume and I got both in spades now.

And the tone is just what I was wanting. Loved my Laney Cub12 for what it was, but it was a one trick pony and not loud enough.

And I've already seen what a guitar and a few pedals Dan sound like through a decent amp. A TS circuit through this thing is sonic gold.
