Found this info on Fattening up a JB

Im wondering if anyone has tried this & will it work on
Standard JB as well as JB Jr ?

"Standard wiring would be to pair the green and bare wires together and soldered to ground but you can get a way "Fatter" sound by pairing the black wire with the bare wire and solder it to ground and making the green wire "hot". This came as a tip from one of the "tone-ologists" at S.D. It made positions 4 and 5 on my five-way selector switch so "Fat" it makes my 40 watter beg for mercy...I also wired my strat to use the middle tone know to wirk with the JB so I can control the treble as it is naturally bright in character. This is very important if you want to tame the treble on this pickup. You can get the schematic from S.D. web site."

Well, its total BS. All that mod does is reverse the polarity. It would do absolutely nothing to the tone of the humbucker alone. If he was using fender SC's for example it may have put the JB back in phase with the middle pup in position 4 which if true would make that position sound much fuller. Or, perhaps making the switch forced him to unknowingly repair a bad soldering job. Can't say for sure but it didn't do anything to help the tone of the solo JB.

For what its worth I can't believe ANYONE on this site actually said this to him.

When I bought my Screamin Demon, the store owner told me to wire it that way, versus the way in the destructions. I never checked it the other way to confirm. But he said it would make it sound waaaayyyyyyy better than normal. I dont buy it either, Im just confirming the rumor.

No... it definitely works, but you have to mount the volume pot upside down to get the full effect... LOL
