Framus Dragon Arrived Today - Wow Wow Wow

All I can say is WOW

Amazing amp. It is an EL34 BEAST. Loud, versatile footswitching, a DEEP knob and 2 MASTER VOUMES for tons of BASS, volume and options. THE MIDI has me VERRRRY intrigued, for as a singer I cannot tap dance while I play.

It's a parallel FX loop btw.

The thing is very fat, great clean sound for a Marshall type, warm brown distortion that can do everything short of nu metal Recto sounds, and even there it gets close. For me, it has the Marshall mid signature and fat cream that allows me to roar. I can probably leave my 1973 at home from now on!

You just bought it? Didn't you just scoop up a Rivera too, or is that getting sold to fund the Framus?

lol JALIN

GEARJONESER - I traded my Mark IIB to Dana for the Dragon new in box from the factory.

If this hadn't arrived I was gonna do the Mark IIB for a JCM SLash on Ebay. It's killing me, I lost the JCM by 25, but I would be scrambling for cash.

I love the Rivera for smaller gigs (it can go 50 watts)

GEAR what's your opinion on going Jube?

It sounds like the Framus would be more useful to you. I like Jubilees, but they have TOO much of that 80's metal tone.....same with the Splawns. I love mine, but the Bogner stomps it.

On the Jubilees you can back off the gain to get a more classic sound, but then your cleans lose punch, because they share a common gain control. That's one aspect of Jubilees that some players don't like. Jubilees sound best when the gain is on 7 for both channels, the master is almost dimed, and the other volume is used to balance the volume between channels....usually at 6.

clips :) I've always wanted to try a Framus but they're pretty hard to find around here

They have one at the Amps Shop in Sherman Oaks

It's very Marshall-like. Has that strong midrange, and it's very creamy
The clean channel is very sweet and full. It needs to be cranked a bit to make it really smooth. Switching is clean, it's quiet, and it has a DEEP knowb which gives you THUNDEROUS bass.

It's basically everything you wish a TSL would sound like, along with a fuller more saturated gain. It is in no way like a DUAL REC. No buzzsaw. The lead channel is very thick yet not liquid like a Mesa. Very tight in the bass. They make a model called the Cobra which has more gain and a lot of thickness.

I love that it is really easy to set and tweak.
