Frank Lee Installed an Alembic Stratoblaster in His Strat

Sounds nice. The Blaster (http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/blaster.html) is a preamp that adds a nice amount of hair to a Strat without really altering the tone. FL usually just plays the Strat clean and the Blaster will enable him to use the volume knob a lot more. The guitar is a Fender Japan 54 Strat clone with the stock (Fender '54s) bridge and middle and a Dimarzio Class of '55 in the neck. The Blaster really makes the already spanky bridge pickup even spankier, Tele like, etc.

Frank Lee would like to personally say Thank You to the hippies at Alembic for keeping it real throughout the years. May they ride into the sunset in their dune buggies without being Hassled by the Man.

Frank, how would the stratoblaster compare to an EMG afterburner /PA-2 gainwise and tonally?

Frank Lee does not know. He had what may have been an EMG preamp in a Strat 20 years ago or so. They seem similar with the Alembic being slightly groovier and more musical sounding. Neither lacked gain.
