Re: Frank Lee Really Likes His New Wampler Plextortion
I was wamplerized during the last months.
Once I've tried a couple of pedals, I knew that's what I was always willing to hear so, I rebuilt my pedalboard based on Wampler' stuff.
Pinnacle, Plextortion, SLOstortion and Triple Wreck are very nice distortion units and they do perfectly what you can expect from them but, IMHO, they are all one trip pony, because, at the end, they are some kind of amp-distortion-simulation pedals.
The most versatile distortion unit coming from Wampler is, always in my opinion, the Sovereign. That beast can cover practically everything from overdrive to high distortion. For More high gain, you have the Triple Wreck and for Fuzz tones, the Leviatan. For rest of distortions, Sovereign rules.
I've removed my really loved RAT Whiteface reissue from the pedalboard.
IMHO, the Sovereign is the most organic SOLID STATE distortion pedal, I've ever tried and, versatile enough to cover the sounds of he Plextortion, the Pinnacle and the SLOstortion, or at least leave you in same ballpark.
