Franklin took a vacation...

and went to visit his creator.

Scott_F had offered to add a "cut" control to the Celtic Franklin to make it possible to take out some of the extra high frequencies. I didn't have a serious complaint with the amp, but sometimes I had some extra "harshness" in the tone.

I played it for about an hour with just the guitar and amp. WHOA! GREAT overdriven tones, super clean tones, and now with some extra tone control!

I liked this amp all along. Now, I can't imagine EVER letting it go.

The cut knob is very usefull on ac30/15 type amps.

Scott: is the cut control on the Franklin an AC-30 post-phase inverter type cut control or something else? I've got a single-ended amp (ax84) I'd like to add a cut control to, but the normal methods -- presence control or AC-30 type top-cut -- won't work with a single-ended amp.

It's such an easy add-on, Stephen could have done it himself. I simply add a 250k pot and a .0022uf cap in parallel to the master volume. Middle lug to middle lug, right to right, left to left. I added a little mini-toggle to the bottom of the amp so Stephen could switch it out of the circuit if he so chose. Stratman's is wired the same exact way.

I LOVE this AMP

BTW - I also jump channels the Normal and Treble channels on Edana and then jump into Franklin for a really BIG tone.

Nice option...although I likes me some treble. I only use the cut on my AC30 when it gets too loud for others, but it's all good to me.

Scott; I'm curious. What you say in the text, and what it shows in the pic aren't quite the same. Is this basically just a tone control with a .0022uf cap?

I "borrowed" the photo from a well-known LIghtning layout. Actually there's no need to connect the .0022 between the center and the left lug. Just as the left lug is unused on the master, so it is on the cut.

Thats even more interesting. I don't recall ever seeing a volume control that didn't use all three lugs. More food for thought.
