Free Pedal Day! (yesterday)

So... I was at a friend's house the other day, and we were just hanging out in his room. On his amp, there was this little blue pedal just sitting there all dusty and quiet. I asked if he uses it and he told me no, and that I could have it. Cool with me. It's an Ibanez Super Metal (SM-9). I REALLY like the sound of this pedal, and it was free! BUT, the batteries I put in it only last about 10 minutes each. Anybody know what could be wrong with it? Here's a pic:

Whoa nice! If the prices I'm seeing online are right, that thing's worth a little over $100.

Get yourself a 9v adapter if you're keeping it.

neato I always liked the ibanez pedals, I'd have to +1 the advice to get a power supply (pedals come and go but one thing remains you'll always need power for whatever you have).

if you use a lot of pedals investing in something like a onespot with daisy chain or voodoo lab pedal power would probably be prudent as batteries (especially on time based effects) become pretty expensive.

I would recommend the Voodoo Labs pedal power supply before the one spot if you have the funds. It individually powers each pedal where as the one spot piggy-backs the power from a daisy chain, so some pedals my not be getting optimal results of power.

Yeah, I plan on keeping it. I'm going to go ahead and get the adapter as soon as I can. I'd like to play for more than 10 mins.

Whoa! De Ja Vu! I think I may have owned that pedal at one time several years ago. I use to have 3 of them and one of them had 2 little dent marks right where that one did and it also chewed threw batteries like nobodies business. That was the whole reason I sold it. If I can find the pictures off my old computer, I'll post them up so we can compare it.

Haha, lol. Don't mean to rain on your parade but that isn't my pic. Mine has a dent right above the "I" in "Ibanez". Thanks everyone.

I'd be worried if a pedal called Super Metal didn't eat through batteries! In fact, when you open the battery compartment, you should just see a pile of ashes and a tiny gravestone.

Hah! I have one of those kicking around I love the sound but the switch is going out so I rarely mess with it. Nice score. I might look into the battery issue before running out and getting an adapter though I used to use mine on battery only and i can remember getting through atleast 10 hours play time. If there is an issue getting an adaptor would just be covering the bullet hole with a band aid.
