Well, I discovered just one place on the neck of my new Carvin, if I do a really huge bend, it frets out. :cussing:

Can a fret level be done without scratching the h-e- double hockey sticks out of the birdseye maple neck?

Thanks.

Re: Fret leveling question

I usually tape off the fret board when I do a level crown and polish, also have a little metal shield that fits over the fret to help protect the fret board. There should be not scratches or marring at all on the fretboard when you are done.

Re: Fret leveling question

I did that to many guitars without ever hitting the fretboard.

However, I place something on the first fret so that the leveling device doesn't knock off the nut, and it could also touch the fretboard when doing so.

Re: Fret leveling question

what is the radius of the neck?
how high is the action?
I think 12 in. radius? Action is not super low, about 1/16 in. from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the low e string.
