Re: fretboard material

Rosewood all the way, because I'm used to I guess, and it just feels better. Though I prefer the sleek look of ebony.

Re: fretboard material

i like the feel and look of ebony. tone-wise, its a toss between rosewood and maple depending on the guitar and what i am playing it with.

if i must choose, i will go maple. right in between ebony and rosewood in tone albeit not as slick-feeling as ebony or rosewood.

Re: fretboard material

Looking back, just about every guitar I've loved had a rosewood fretboard. It just looks right, feels right and well, provides the right balance of warmth for me. Ebony always had a bit of bright tone to it and maple works well for some things, but not for others.

Re: fretboard material

pardon me for hijacking.

according to john from blackrose, the moses graphite neck has the look and feel of ebony and a tone similar to maple. i will have to check them out someday.
