Take The same Bass or Guitar for that matter, set up exactly the same but with differant fingerboards. What would the tone differances be of

Rosewood
Pau Ferro
Ebony
Maple
Just a curiosity question as I have always played Rosewood fingerboards {seems to be the most common} except for my new 2001 Millenium that uses Pau Ferro

No offense, but please learn to use Google. I found this info not too long ago using Google. Anyways, depends on the rosewood. Supposedly Indian rosewood ("normal") gives more mids, but brazillian rosewood gives more highs (or is it the other way around?). Pau Ferro (just google for that, you'll find the page I'm talking about), I don't know, but I remember that they said like 15% of the population is allergic to Pau Ferro. Ebony is supposedly like maple in a dense bright sound, and then of course there's maple itself.

I really don't think fretboard materials matter as much. I just get one that should balance out the body, but in terms of touch, I prefer ebony.
