Today I recieved the BADDEST LPC i have ever owned. Its a 1974 Les Paul Custom 20th Anniversary!!!

I traded a cotton farmer in Texas an amp and some cash for this beauity.

I was relieved to open the case and find that it was in one piece....then i immediately took it downstairs for a new set of strings and little investigation.

I found original pots and untouched soldier joints...

Then i found that it had the original pat # pickups....

I was VERY excited to see the original Gibson tuner replaced with PAT PEND Grovers!!!

I continued to tighten, check and clean...got her all put back together and it was time to rock!

Congrats! Gorgeous guitar.

FYI, T tops have the patent # on them too (and if you check,it is actuallythe incorrect pat#).

Nice picking.

Nice. Never seen the goof rings around humbuckers before. That's gotta be rare.

Date coded the pots? Mine were the 48th week of 73, IIRC, and I never really could figure out if it was a 73 or 74. I figured it was a 73 because it doesn't have the anniversary inlay, but now I see that my T Tops are pat stickers vs your stamped. Not that it really matters, as they were just grabbing whatever was around and throwing it in guitars back then. The knobs should be black witch hats should you want to make it closer to stock.

Thanks man! The pots are from 74. I never realized how difficult it was to find black witch hats with gold tops.....

I never looked but I can't imagine it's all that easy. If you decide to keep keep it, it might be worth long-term hunting. FWIW, the factory numbers on mine are all but gone like on your TRC, if you're looking for originality.

Of course, the Kahler string lock screw holes in my hs **** that all up. Nice score!

I was all ready to post an enthusiastic congrats, until I noticed you replaced the beautiful amber speed knobs with those ... other things.

So ... half-hearted congrats from me, I guess. Sorry you had to ruin your nice guitar :)
