FS: 1960 RI CS Gibson LP Special DC, Fender EJ Strat

Hey guys, I'm doing some major house cleaning so I'm condensing down to one guitar in my collection, a PRS McCarty. For now, I'm really just selling these 2 axes for money.

*Please note that I will only ship to continental US residents, sorry for the inconvenience international folks.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First up is an excellent condition (9/10) candy apple red Fender EJ Strat. I got this one in a trade for a PRS McCarty Soapbar a while back. I tried all the other EJ Strats in the store (this was when they first came out) and this one was my favorite. The original owner had changed the pick guard from the '57 style 1 ply white to a 3 ply white/black/white. Everything else on the guitar is completely stock.

This one is a blast to jam out with. She's just the right weight (7.6 lbs. - pic below for proof), there is no stickiness on the neck (because she's been played) and she has a nice resonant, acoustically loud, bright and poppy sound to her (without being tinny). She's setup perfectly: the construction is absolutely flawless, the nut is cut well (no tuning issues), no fret buzz or any other issues. There is 1 pin sized ding right by the trem block on the back of the guitar (so small I couldn't get it to come out in the pics) and there are very few light superficial scratches (the kind that are only seen up close with bright lights at an angle) - other than that she's flawless.

If she's so great, why am I selling her? Right now I'm focused on finding the perfect P90 guitar for my tastes and single coils have always taken second place, so I could use the money to go shopping. Rest assured, when I get more money after I buy my next P90 axe, I'll be getting another one of these because they are really comfortable guitars and by far the best strats I've played. I never really liked a single strat until I came upon this one - somebody will be very happy with her.

I'll let this one go for $1100 [Price drop!] (shipping and handling with full insurance & all Paypal fees are all included in this price). As an added bonus, this will come with a tortoise shell vintage '57 style pickguard as well (a $50 value in itself)

Up next is a 2005 1960 RI Custom Shop Gibson LP Special DC.

This is an example of Gibson taking their time with an instrument and doing it right. The nut is cut well (no tuning issues), no fret buzz, everything was done cleanly (no misaligned binding, no gaps anywhere, etc.). As we all know, a flawlessly constructed Gibson is a rarity, so you all can see where I'm coming from when I had to grab this.

She weighs in at a comfortable 7.8 lbs. (picture taken as proof). This one is a pretty rare (and very cool looking) TV white finish and of course, the finish on this one was done well (no odd discoloration anywhere). This guitar is bone stock, the only alteration was that the back strap button was moved to the top of the guitar like some of the other modeled LP DC Specials. This gives the guitar perfect balance for the player and it was done cleanly, so it looks like it was practically done like that stock from the factory. The fret board is a very dark colored rosewood (looks great for the guitar because it has the white/black color scheme).

The condition of the instrument is very good. There are absolutely no dings anywhere on the guitar, just light superficial scratches (the kind that only show up at an angle in bright lights) and some light tarnishing on the hardware. This one comes with all the case candy including the official Certificate of Authenticity straight from the Gibson Custom Shop. She has been freshly restrung with D'Addario 10's and setup with nice medium-low action.

If this guitar is so great, why am I selling it? Put simply, I really like my PRS' feel (I prefer 25'' scale lengths to 24.5''). I've gone back and forth on a lot of gear in the past and now is no exception. This is going to be another one I'll probably regret down the line. It's pretty much hard to argue with the mahogany/P90 combination. Warm, rootsy tones that are suitable from anything from reggae to blues to pop to rock and roll. She's balanced sounding unplugged (no tinny highend, scooped midrange or boomy lowend here).

I'm looking for $1450 [Price drop!] for this one (shipping and handling with full insurance & all Paypal fees are all included in this price). These don't show up too often so the price is fixed.

The DC is tempting. I almost bought one from Saul last week I've owned one before - same color too. I didn't sell you mine did I? It was a 2005 model as well.

I'm assuming this one is different because I had picked this one up from an eBayer in Boston who was selling it for a friend (his friend had lived in Japan for a little while and - from what I've gathered - actually picked up the USA Custom Shop Gibby there).

It might be just be the angle of your picture of her, but it looks like the grain runs differently on the top of yours. The color of the rosewood looks lighter on your older LP Special as well (mine has a very dark rosewood that's almost into ebony territory). :)
