FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

Hey everyone, up for sale is my Fender Bandmaster. It's a blackface from 1963 and the reason I'm selling it is simply because I do not have the ability to put in any time/money to fix a few issues due to school.

I'm looking to get $325 plus shipping.

I thought it was a killer deal when I bought it and the seller said it worked perfectly fine. In fact, it DOES work fine but there are some issues that need to be addressed:

1) There's rust inside the chassis
2) Several wires from the tranny look pretty crispy however the amp DOES work, play, and sound fine. It's a bit noisy like most old amps but the tone is pretty sweet, not too loud.
3) The pilot light doesn't work due to one of these wires not making a good connection.

So the good news:

1) It DOES work, nothing is dead, aside from the pilot light. I'm not sure if someone can simply replace the wires since the transformer is still good but if so, it would be an easy fix I guess.

2) It has been recapped fairly recently according to the dude I bought it from.

3) Has a new grounded power cable

Here are some pix:

You got any pics of the tranny? Is the tranny rusted????

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

You indicate that it is not "too loud". It is rated for 40 watts output..Correct? Does the output seem diminished?

I'd also be interested in seeing pics of the tranny and the surrounding chassis. Also, a pic of the rear panel would be nice.

Thanks

Dave

Well, It's loud but I guess what I meant was I'm used to 100 watt heads screaming away so from my history it's not that loud and rather easy to get the goods from :)

WOW...thanks for the pics and response...in nanoseconds.

I now understand your "not too loud" comment fully. LOL

One last question(sorry)...what would the approximate shipping weight be?

Thanks

Dave

I'm not sure on the weight, but I can check real quick. It isn't that heavy though.

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

The amp itself is about 28 pounds so maybe a bit more once packed :)

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

Shipping from Alaska can be expensive. I'd love to have this amp, though.

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

It can be but I normally use USPS and it's not that bad at all. I think it was like $45 to have it shipped up here to me :)

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

My right arm is gettin' real sore from my left arm twistin' it...... and my right hand is holdin' my cheque book.

Re: FS: 1963 Fender Bandmaster (Blackface/AB763)

although my funds are insufficient to purchase this lovely piece of gear, but this guy is right.
ive had the chance to play through this model amp before.
FABULOUS tone.
and when you turn these things up to 11.
it's to die for.
DONT LET THIS ONE GET AWAY

If this was a blonde, it would have been gone already.

Yeah, maybe because you'd have bought it, right? :laugh2:

Guys, I have a 66 or 67 BM like this one, and I'll tell you right now mine sounds great. MJ, is the sound at all intermittent or just noisy? Does the vibrato work?

Monty-Jay: Are you open to offers or are you firm at $325.00 USD + shipping?

Thanks

Dave

Dave, that would look great with blue chicken head knobs on it! :laugh2:

Just to let everyone else in on the "joke", I just bought 9 ( it was 9... wasn't it, I can't remember now...Canada Post is so slow) blue chicken head knobs from FenderFan79.

M-J I need some time on this. I have a friend that builds amps and I need to talk to him as the "crisp" tranny wires are a bit of a concern to me. Maybe I'm out to lunch here, but somehow I just need to be assured. Also, I don't really need another amp., I just get severe GAS from these old Fenders. My doctor says that is normal as he likes old Fenders also.:laugh2:

I love old amps. Especially ones that look like they went through Katrina! :) I've got an old 68 Pro Reverb that was all grunged up inside. I was afraid to scrape off any mojo. :)
