FS 1989 USA Jackson Rhoads

I am selling a 1989 USA Jackson Rhoads, the color is an off white with fine metal flake as well as black bevels. I thought this may have been white and faded but when I removed the pickups to swap them out the color was the same in the cavities. The guitar is in fantastic shape, no dings and no chips on the wings. This is a time when Jackson was a shop that made guitars to order, the attention to detail and quality was top notch. Guitar came with the original Jackson pickups, they have been replaced with a Duncan Distortion bridge and a Duncan Alnico 2 Pro in the neck. Frets are original and have virtually no wear, the bridge is a german made JT-590 Floyd style labeled Jackson. Original pickups are included, maybe you can use them for paper weights as they sound awful. The case is a little worn but works fine and all latches are intact. New USA Jackson Rhoads will cost you $2000.00+, I am looking to get $1000.00. Item is located in Winchester, Mass. Call me at 781-572-7791.

It's not unusual for the cavities to age as the top does. Best way to check for aging is under the control cavity plate and the jack plate. I've got an old 90s Jackson bass that is Pearl White but yellowed. You can see the original bright color under the control cavity cover, bridge, jackplate, and neckplate.

And Jackson started mass-production in 1989 for the 1990 season. If yours has a "U" serial, it's a production model. If it's a "Jnnnn" or "RR" serial, it's before that.

Both were made by the same people, of course, and they were still made as good. The production models were simply a process by which each model was made in batches of 12 featuring a uniform option scheme (i.e. 2-hum, floyd, neckthrough, alder/poplar body with maple neck, ebony board, MOP fins, binding, limited color scheme, etc).

And not all pre-production models were made to order - they made literally hundreds to send out with reps and to stores that had these same "generic" options to drive sales, and these were not generated in response to a work order sent in by a dealer/customer as a "true" Custom Shop model would be.

Doesn't diminish the value at all, just a point of clarity.

It is an RR serial #. I remember in the 1980's that there was always a wait if you wanted a Jackson Rhoads I am not sure about bolt on stuff like Dinkys, maybe I am thinking about the San Dimas produced stuff which ended in 1986?

I honestly don't know about that. Would never own a V, explorer, B.C., or any other of "That kind" of guitar, but something about that fine piece just makes the rock animal deep inside scream WANT :saeek:

Bump for one of the few guitars I'd feel comfortable buying used over the internet. Each one I've ever been fortunate enough to touch has been better than the last, and all superb instruments. Easy and comfortable to play to my unskilled hands.

That said, wish i could be the one to take it off your hands! Good Luck!

That was standard for the period as Kramer had rights to Floyd Rose bridges at the time and they were the only ones who could use them IIRC, the guitar is not necessarily a custom order as far as options just that production numbers were very low compared to today.
