Seymour Duncan Customer Support
I'm selling this guitar for one reason and one reason only: my band is about to record an album and we need a Kemper. Otherwise I would happily, joyfully hang on to this instrument.
For Sale: my super-clean 1996 Hamer USA Special FM - S-S-S-SOLD!
No trades except for a Kemper +cash from my end.
The Special FMs are really excellent guitars and mine is the best example I've seen. It's easily a 9/10 in terms of wear. The frets are perfect. The neck is perfect. The weight is about 8 lbs and the balance is superb. Insanely clean for a 17-year-old guitar. No sign of "hamer-itis" anywhere on this one. I have owned high-end PRS, EBMM, and Suhr guitars, and this Hamer is built as well and plays as effortlessly and precisely as any of them - and sounds better (and is more versatile, see below) than most. I am truly loathe to sell it.
Specs:
Single-piece mahogany body
Mahogany neck
Rosewood fretboard
Bookmatched AAAAA flamed maple top
Cherry-burst finish
Gold hardware
You will see in the later pics that the stock pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan P-Rails and Triple Shot mounting rings. The small switches on the Triple Shots allow you to quickly switch between some 28 different pickup combinations. Each pickup can be set to one of four sounds:
- humbucking-in-series (high output)
- humbucking-parallel (PAF sound)
- P-90 coil only
- rail-only
The guitar will ship in its original Hamer hardshell case. One of the case latches was broken when I got it but this does not diminish its ability to adequately protect the guitar. I will also include the original cream mounting rings from the guitar (which are difficult to find in the right dimensions) in case the new owner wants to put standard humbuckers back in it.
Please PM me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
