Hate to see it go, but I am running out of room! This guitar plays great, looks good (a few minor blemishes in the clear), and sounds awesome! Anybody looking probably knows the hisotry of these guitars, so I'll spare you my poor typing. Comes with SD JB pickup and original Charvel chainsaw HSC. Asking $700, OBO. Price includes shipping to CONUS.

Thanks! :friday:

Re: FS: Charvel Model 88

I assume this is the Japanese made model w/ a Ft. Worth, Texas boltplate and 4 digit serial number and what is the serial number? How is the trem? They are prone to pitting badly and usually end up breaking due to the low quality metal used. Do you also have the original J series pickup also? The african mahogany is pretty soft so is there any worming/buckle indentations on the back?

Thanks in advance, PM me please

Ron

Hi Ron, I will reply here because others may find this information useful. It is a Japan-made guitar. The line was supposed to run 1,000 pieces and approximately half the body blanks were burned in a shop fire. The s/n is 0238. The JT-6 trem has no pitting issues and arrived to me in perfect tune. As I said, there are a couple of imperfections in the clear; this does not affect the wood. African striped mahogany is no longer available on the exotic lumber market and hasn't been for years. This coupled with the fire is why the guitar is relatively rare.

Bumpage. Willing to trade for an American Strat, especially a plus or deluxe model. Show me some stuff!

Re: FS: Charvel Model 88

How worn are the frets?? I just sold one of my model 4s tonight and have a pointy headstock shaped hole in my heart I need to fill...

They aren't!

Edit: Okay, I just looked and I would say the wear is minor. There is nothing there that affects playability at all. I can provide a pic if you're interested.

Re: FS: Charvel Model 88

It's mahogany. The JB in there sounds really crisp. Other than that, I dunno. Never played a model 4. It plays nearly as well as my Vandy. That's my only other shorty.

Re: FS: Charvel Model 88

I believe the Model 88 was a 25.5" scale guitar. The only short scale Charvel imports were the Fusion and the 750xl.

Re: FS: Charvel Model 88

Perhaps it's an illusion conjured by the odd HS angle.

This guitar has sold. Thanks everybody for your interest.
