SMArk what is your impression on this particular set? Are they close to vintage, hotter, or are they something else altogether? Just wondering what your thoughts were. Thank you.

Comparing them to the Fender CS69, which I think is sort of what they are designed around... Overall, yes, they are hotter. The neck and middle pickups don't quite have that glassy charm of the CS69. Though, many would find that an improvement, because the CS69 is very glassy. But still they are very vintage and only a bit hotter in the neck and middle. The bridge pickup, of course, is way hotter. But in this case I think that's a good thing. I think the 7.6k wind is pretty close to perfect to give you a good strong bridge pup without going way over-the-top with regard to the strength of the other two pups. I think David has a good concept with this set, and it should stay pretty popular.

Smark thanks for the review. If I had a guitar to put them into I would have already paypal'd you the money. That's a fair asking price for sure. I think the only reason these haven't moved yet, is that maybe many players here haven't been exposed to David Allen's stuff yet. I think if you posted them over at Strat-talk.com http://www.strat-talk.com they would sell very quickly. D. Allen stuff is very popular over at that board. In fact, if I had the money I would grab these and just hold onto them until I'm ready to do my next build, but sadly I don't have the extra cash right now. Good luck with your sale. I'm sure who ever gets these pups will be happy. D. Allen stuff is awesome.
