The Solo is hotter and darker. Not really a true strat sound (like the VV Blues), but it really rips as a bridge pickup if you play with OD most of the time. It does a good job of splitting the difference between a 'bucker and a single.
The highs are thick and round, but the lows are still tight and have a cool piano-like quality about them. the mids also cut through really well, with an emphasis on the high mids.
I had a Solo at the bridge of my MIJ 62 RI Strat (basswood body, rosewood fretboard) along with a '54 in the mid and a blues in the neck.
BTW, every Fender Noiseless single I've ever heard sounds like crap. The VV's blow them out of the water. Heck, even the Laces sound better than Fender's Noisless offerings.
