Those are pretty hot. My BB1 is 7.75K and my BB2 is 8.25K.

Have the covers been removed?

Any mods (magnet swapping?)

The guy I got them from said they came from a R8 Historic, and that's all that I know.

I called Gibson and they said that although they're on the higher end of the scale, they still fall in between what they consider 1's and 2's. They also admitted that a 8.6k BB2 would sound the exact same as a 8.6k BB3, so go figure.

I've got a zebra PG neck and a zebra C5. Both in excellent shape, w/logo, full length leads in original boxes with screws and springs. PM me if interested.

Gibson would use a BB3 marked as a BB2 in their historics as they are sold with a BB1 & BB2 pickup set. Since they don't publish DC resistance values, it's shipped as is. My '58 Historic BB's are 7.4 and 7.8 respectively. I'm not surprised if both are in the BB1 spec.
