FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

krankguitarist

Krankitupologist
SOLD

OK, yes, yes, yes, I know. I'm a horrible person and I deserve to die a horrible, horrible death for what I've done to the gibson V below.

What started out as a popped-up fret ended as me goin a little overboard on trying to fix an axe that I ultimately did not have the skills to fix. So...I'll pass it on to the next person, in the hope that they will get some use out of it.

This axe started out as a gibson Faded V, now its missing a fretboard. If you have the skills...this would be a great project axe.

I'm selling it with its pickguard...an aluminum Diamond-plate piece made by sharp concepts.

You get the guitar and the pickguard for a whopping $80 shipped. I paid 400 for the guitar alone back when I bought it. But then again, back then it had a fretboard. And frets. And pickups and such.

oh God, I want that. Questions: Do you have the fretboard still? If not, that's cool. Any mods done to the body or neck?

Still have the original fretboard, though its not in very pretty shape. It'll definately work as a model for a new fretboard though.

only mod done to the neck is I swapped the tuners a while back. Nothing done to the body.

If this is still around, consider it sold pending payment and send me an e-mail so we can work out details. I have a nice thick slab of Brazilian RW that´s been sitting here for ages screaming for a guitar. ;)

dammit zerb beat me to it. oh well, he's better at this **** than me.

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

I've already got about 4 people lined up who are showing interest, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed :laugh2: .

Well...I'm gonna handle this on a "first come, first serve" basis, so bean, you get first shot. If not, StJimmy is next, then Zerb, then Xssive. Thats about the best I can do.

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

Mike, I´ll sell it to ya for 150 :D

Sorry man, but there´s no way I can let a Gibby slip by for that price, even a faded. Especially with that piece of RW lying around sulking in the corner :beerchug:

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

Rosewood...blah too typical...if i saved it it would be inlayless ebony and it would no longer be a faded cherry color that's for sure!!

I´m not generally worried about "typical", but about "musical", and I don´t really like the way Roundhorn Vs sound with an ebony board, gets brittle and thin on the top end IMO.. on a rhoads it accentuates the bass spike and slightly attenuated highs, but IMO normal Vs are generally too midrangey for Ebony ;)

And yeah, the color is as good as gone... Black w/ chrome will look much more badass w/ the guard :D:D

I think I'm going to be adding a new condition to the buyer. You must post pics when you are done.

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

I dont know who I want to get this more. Mike or Tim..... But the other guys probably deserve it more.

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

neither Tim nor I "deserve" it if you mean because we have loads of guitars however both of us would do some damn cool stuff to it that's for sure!

oh and Tim, i say skip the inlays even on the rosewood! that would look nice and clean/cool. oh and if it must be black i say go with a metallic black so it has something different about it!

Thats what I am saying Mike, you two would do very cool things with it. But Beandip and StJimmy probably deserve it more, speaking in the amount of guitars you both own.

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

:dammit: A Gibby for $80.:smack: I got a slab of rosewood sitting here to ! Even if I had to buy one ,It's still worth it! I've also been on the lookout for any gibby faded for cheap... This way I could spray some real Nitro on it.:13:

Re: FS: Gibson V - For the luthier in you (cheap, but needs some R&R)

if I got it, I probably wouldnt keep it. I'd fix it up, make it playable and look cool, then either sell it or give it away.
