FS: Keeley modded Blues Driver.

Like new. I bought this some time back and sent it to Keeley to be modded. I love this thing but I almost never play with dirt any more. And when I do, I use either my Twin Tube Classic or my Palladium. (I've misplaced the manual. If I find it, I'll send it.)

$85 shipped CONUS.

Hmmm. I'm not exactly sure. It's whatever the "classic" Keeley mod is. I just know it sounds great.

Edit: Would I be able to tell by taking a photo of the internals?

I'd like to avoid tearing the whole thing apart, but you can see here that it is the through-hole version, and at least three components have been removed or replace. Maybe that will be a clue to someone who knows these better.

Keeley classic mod (copied from his website a long while back):

D3 -> Change this 1SS133 to a different (1N4002) diode for asymmetrical clipping. This adds second order harmonics. This adds to the tube type sound. I like the sound of this change.

D7 and D10 -> Change these diodes from 1SS133 to 1N4002. More second order harmonic distortion. Although the change is slight, I like it.

C1, C7, C6, C12, C13, and C15 -> Change this electrolytic capacitor to a 10uF tantalum. Tantalum capacitors sound better than electrolytic capacitors. It would be best to have a non-polarized cap here. I like these anywhere there is signal coupling at this high a value. Tantalum capacitors are easy to find in this range.

C14 -> Increase input coupling capacitor value to 0.1uF for increased bass response from your guitar.

R1, R2, R18 and R19 -> Here is some magic. Change the resistors to carbon composition. These old resistors probably have some frequency dependent component, which means that there is a capacitive element to the resistor. This is because of the spacing in the material. Add these for vibe, MOJO, and magic.

C100 -> Here is where we can affect the tone control. I prefer a little more lower-midrange and bass frequencies through the tone section. You can increase the lower frequencies by increasing the capacitor value to 0.033uF.

I modded a BD-2 to these specs a long while back and it sounds great!

You absolutely shouldn't sell it. The BD-2 is the best pedal the Boss makes. :P

I turned 69 today. (My favorite number.) I need some of this stuff to go into the hands of a younger guitarist, who can make it sing, instead of collecting dust.

After all, dust never sleeps.

this is extremely tempting.

on the one hand, the blues driver is one of my favorite pedals and havin a souped-up one in addition to my stock one would be great
on the other hand, i've gotten pretty handy with modding pedals & could fairly easily do all these mods myself

on the third hand, the cost of another blues driver plus components plus time would be more than what you're offering here

on the fourth... wait how many hands do i have? i'm gonna think about this for a bit and probably impulsively buy it from you when i get home from the bar tonight if its still available.
