FS: MIJ Schecter SD-24-AS

MIJ Schecter SD-24-AS, great guitar, Japan only, the only way to get them new is to order them from Japan, so they are kinda rare on this side of the pond. Schecter branded Gotoh Floyd, the original Schecter pickups were replaced with DiMarzios, an Air Norton in the neck, Air Zone in the bridge, and an Evolution single coil in the middle. The body is a beautiful piece of swamp ash, the quilt top is either a veneer or photo quilt, it's very 3D, but if you look at the scraped "binding" you can see the ash goes all the way to the top. The frets are medium jumbos with just a little wear, no issues there, the neck is more of a Fender C shape, it's not a thin Ibz shredder style. There are a few small dings in the finish, but nothing to the wood.
I also added a Black Box trem stabilizer from FU Tone. Comes in a molded Gator case that the corners have been a little beaten up, there is gorilla tape over the cracks but it protects the guitar fine and does what a case should do. Beautiful guitar that plays and sounds great, I'm just not bonding with it.

These are wonderful guitars! Had one in pink briefly a few years back. Definitely custom shop quality and this is a great deal on one!

Just overall feel, was looking for something to replace my old root beer JEM that I played for a long time, but sold to pay rent a couple of years ago when I was self employed, or more aptly, self unemployed for a while. If you are self employed, you can't draw unemployment when there aren't any contracts. But, sorry, side track, but just to say, I didn't willingly sell my favorite playing guitar. Unfortunately, those don't come up very often either, at least not at reasonable prices.

So, yes, picked this up to replace it, it plays fine and sounds great, but just not bonding with it enough to make it "the one", the neck is a little thicker, feels more round like a strat, the bar just doesn't sit in the right place for me, etc... Can't give you a totally specific reason. And I'm not "collecting" guitars, so I'm not keeping it just to keep it.

Exactly what I'm doing, I have a few that I'm looking at that are similar to ones I've had in the past. I may have to put one on a CC and push the sale of this one, that's the problem with shopping for used guitars, especially more rare ones, you never know when they are going to show up.

Hopefully this one won't be around for long though, hint, hint ;-)

I totally understand, good luck with the sale(s). I'm a renter, and unfortunately live in one of the more expensive places in the country. My ex did really well when she sold my ex-house...

No, sorry, I don't have the humbuckers, the previous owner changed them out to the Air Zone and a PAF Pro, I changed the PAF Pro to an Air Norton, seemed like a better match in this guitar. I do have the Schecter single coil, just changed that to an Evo single that I had, again, it seemed to be a better match aesthetically as well as tone.

What schecter pups were in this...?

This model should have come with the "Super Rock" humbuckers. When I had mine, I felt that the stock pickups were really the weakest aspect of the guitar. They were "ok", but lacked some clarity and bite when driven.

Honestly, I'd rather have the DiMarzios...the Air Norton/Air Zone combo is absolutely killer in a Floyded SuperStrat like this!

I have several sets of dimarzios. Yet to try either of these. I just replaced a Pasadena set on one of my Schecters.

Another set of Schecter pickups that *almost* excited me, but ultimately fell short

If you're an all-around rock guy, the Air Norton/Air Zone combo is tough to beat. Super versatile

Right now, playing my Norton bridge/ paf pro guitar. Reminds me of the JB, but I dont talk about Larry's stuff too much here. Breed set is killer imo
