FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

Luke Duke

PRSlustologist
I've got an 06 IRW McCarty with Birds that is an AMAZING guitar...that I just rarely play. So rather than let it endure the injustice of injustice of sitting I'm moving it along.

I've got the factory McCarty pups, as well as the Seymour Duncans. The SDs in it are a Pearly Gates neck and a Custom/59 hybrid with double filister head screws (made at SD) with a degaussed A5 magnet. Very thick, very full sound from this pup pair. More open by far than the stock pups, but I'll put the stock back in and knock off 200 dollars if somebody wants just the stock pups.

It's got the case, but no case candy (go figure GC would lose something). It currently has straplocks, but I will include the factory buttons as well

I'm asking 2200 for the guitar, both sets of pups, both sets of strap buttons SHIPPED!

I'm not having to make rent tomorrow or anything like that. I'm only selling this guitar to turn it into something not guitar related, so please save your time and mine and keep the low-ball offers to yourself.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

NICE! Wish I was in the market for one now, cause I'd snatch it up! Had a McCarty for about a week once and it was awesome, but I just couldn't get along with the wide-fat neck profile. My hands were used to the pair of Custom 24s that I had at the time.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

Wow...alright guys, I've played this guitar and let me tell oyu, IT SMOKES!!!

Big fat tone, even sounding and loads of harmonics plus it feels amazing!

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

A real beauty! Can you please post pics of the back/neck? What is the neck carve (holding out ridiculous hope that it's a wide thin)?

Thanks.

I'll be happy to get you pics, but it has the Wide/Fat. I have a royal blue CU24 Ten Top birds and Duncans if thy would float your boat. Lemme know about pics.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

Kinda assumed as much. Haven't seen a McCarty yet that isn't WF. I've only seen one IRW Cu22 WT, and it was priced beyond my reach. Oh well, the vain search continues....

No need to post pics for my benefit. I'm more of a 22 fret PRS guy, but thanks for the heads-up on your other.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

Can't say enough good things about the McCarty's, another bump for a bro.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

not to be taking away from your sale... there are so many props from people in this thread already. I have to say it's a beautiful looking guitar, but man does it look like a terrible design...

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

oooohhhhh.......

I so do not need this, I so do not need this, I so do not need this....

Sold a spectacular blue quilted one to T4D years ago and I've missed it since and kick myself for not buying it back when he offered.

I so do not need this...

Dayum...

HUH?! It's a PRS McCarty, they're a fantastic design. They are what they are. I'm not sure why you felt the need to post that...but ok.

Re: FS: PRS McCarty IRW Tortoise

Because I can't understand why a beautifully made guitar such as a PRS would throw a fixed bridge on their guitar, and having the pickup selector in such an awkward place is just too much. You can get an adjustable wrap-around tailpiece, but fixed is just dumb. I want my $2000 guitar to play in tune no matter how I have it set up. That's just me - ;)

This and the Mira are the only PRS guitars I like! They are really nice... and BTW those bridges do stay in tune very well...

Obviously you've never played a McCarty. The bridge is compensated and can be moved forward or back with small set screws. I've use 9s, 10s, and 10/52s and each one intonated well.

As for the pup selector, I've never found it awkward at all. if you play one you might change your mind.

I have not. I didn't notice the set screws, but I would have guessed they were for locking to the posts anyway. Nice grain on the neck of this guitar. I've never seen stripes like that.
