FSR Strat Question

My friend has a MIM FSR strat. When my friend told me to help to change his pickup. After I open the pickguard I soon realize that the guitar has 2cm holes (2 holes) filled with acrylic or glue like substance that already hardened. At first i thought it is a chambered strat but it is very heavy (3.5 kilo) Is it normal or is he ripped off?

holes this size?

Re: FSR Strat Question

those are weight relief holes. what i dont understand is why they would be filled, unless someone thought plugging them was the right thing to do for tonal reasons. is it heavy?

any pics?

Re: FSR Strat Question

It's 3.5 kg/8 lbs It's heavier than my guitar (without the relief holes). No pics sorry I've returned it to him.
