FT/ CIJ Fernandes Custom Stratocaster

So I've been toying with the idea of trading my Fernandes Custom strat, fully equipped with Kinman pickups, handwired, all that stuff for a Musicman Axis.

I'll post a picture of the guitar and the little advertisement/brochure. It was purchased new for about $2500 and is in pretty decent condition apart from one of the screws holding in the jack plate coming loose.

Comes with a hardcase, so I'd certainly like one if you're considering a trade too.

Anyway, I'd prefer a local trade only so I could play your guitar and you could play mine before we decide anything. I've never played a Musicman before, but they seem like something I could like.

I really have no preference on the model so long as it's pretty clean.

Wow, that chick looks creepy as hell. Seriously, I don't think I could sleep with that thing in my room...

Re: FT/ CIJ Fernandes Custom Stratocaster

It does look creepy but it sounds good!

And I dunnnnno about keepin' it! I've had it for so long and can't really find it with my gear...If that makes any sense.

Beautiful guitar! I have an 09' Music Man Axis Super Sport with the MM90's pickups pretty much are p-90's. It has the noiseless system so you get the nice clean p-90 sound without the annoying buzz and hum. It's got an odd red flame top that shows a bit of quilt and maple fretboard. The bridge is a hard tail version, so not sure if you can live without the whammy. There's no nicks or dings at all on this guitar. Only thing that makes it not mint is the fretboard shows very slight wear mainly on the second fret as these things do not have any finish over the maple fretboards. It also has barely any fretwear. This is still a very clean guitar that's been taken care of by me. I have the original case and whatever that came with it when I bought it new. I'm not sure if I want to part with this guitar as it sounds amazing and the feel is excellent. I really do like your guitar.

Sounds good to me mate. PM a pic or something. I'm curious about the guitar either way. :D

I'll take a pic of it today. Curious question. Why not trade this in at a local guitar shop. I'm sure there's a Ernie Ball dealer wherever you live. If not, I'll think about doing an even swap with you if everything goes right.

I have a really strenuous relationship with the local shop. They're the only one in the area and basically act like they've got some sort of monopoly on the place. They charge probably 8 dollars for a pack of strings and always manage to be out of the most standard size.

They'd only let me trade something like this on consignment since for the most part, Fernandes guitars are pretty unfamiliar to the general public. I tried with my M13 and they told me the same thing, believe it or not.

Like I said in the OP, though, I'd prefer to do a trade in person so I could really get a feel for your guitar (and you to mine) before anything happens. Hope you're local.

Re: FT/ CIJ Fernandes Custom Stratocaster

Fernandes is not a popular company and a much harder guitar to sell, but I am very familiar with their guitars as I own 1 of them myself. An Ernie Ball on the other hand would be a more popular brand. I'm not local. I'd love to try out your guitar, but the only way to do that is to ship it as I would have to ship mine. If you like the feel of the small neck without any finish, but the feel of the bare smooth wood, this would be it for you. Does the guitar have its own original hard case or an aftermarket one?

I've been playing Fernandes guitars for a while, myself.

I don't mind necks with no finish. I kind of like them, honestly.

The guitar comes with its original hard case.

Any nicks, dings, scratches? How's the fretwear? Is the neck straight? What year is this model?

Re: FT/ CIJ Fernandes Custom Stratocaster

They started production in 2005, so mine is probably a 2005 or 2006 model. It's serial number is 051 and it sounds decent. I think I may even record a video with it to detail the tone.

It does have a couple dings, yes, but no exposed wood or anything that would honestly progress into something worse.

It had some finish cracks in the neck pocket right where the bolt-on neck sits, but it's had those since I bought the guitar. When I spoke to the representative in Japan, they told me that this is because of how the neck was situated and the shipping to the USA, even though it was in the hard case. I removed the neck and checked to see if there was breakage in the wood and there is none.

Other than that, the guitar has some normal playing wear, pick scratches, a couple dings and a bunch of fingerprints that won't be there before I ship out the guitar.

The frets are probably about 95% new. I've had the guitar for a pretty long time and have definitely played it quite a bit.

If i got that guitar, first thing I'd do is get an airbrush artist to put soem screwed up eyeballs on that girl and turn her into a zombie, then it'd be cool.

Zombies?! Alright, that'll go great with my Hot Topic themed bedroom!
