FT hughes and kettner duotone head for low wattage head

i hate to see this one go. but the band i was going to be joining went in another direction. so i am going to stick with playing at home and jamming with my buddies. its just too much amp for my needs. it comes with footswitch and i just had it went through and new tubes put in they are ruby el34's power and jj ecc803's preamp tubes. everything on the amp works just as it should. it does have some scuffs on it and the plexi glass front has some scratches. it is also missing a knob which should be easy to replace. other than that the amp is fine. i have seen amps in alot worse shape. i am looking to trade for a lower wattage head 18-50 watts. 50 watts is more than i need but it is more manageable than 100. i am looking for something with a marshall type tone and with a master volume. i would prefer 2 channel but will look at single. i dont care so much about condition as long as everything works ad its nothing too bad. i will get some pics up later tonight. my internet is acting up right now. but if anyone is interested let me know what you got. i might be able to come up with a little extra cask it need be it just depends. i am also willing to just sell it out right if the price is right. i would set one but i dont know how much they go for and would prefer to do a trade.

have ypou considered some yellowjacket el84's to bring that H&K head down to about 50 watts?
That way if you ever change gears you can stick the EL34's back in and be money ahead. If you want to try them I'll send them to you, just send them back when youre done.

i appreciate the offer. but 50 watts is still overkill for me. i was never able to turn my old 50 watt jcm 800 past 3. although i wouldnt mind having another one. i forgot to put this in my first post but it does have a few rips in the tolex. nothing too bad though.

Actually, with 2 yellowjackets, you'd have 30 watts, Class A, like a Vox AC30. If you can find some old Smicz TAD adaptors, you'd be down to around 15 watts.

Ready to build that rack yet Moony? You're running out of heads to go through ;) LOL!

Re: FT hughes and kettner duotone head for low wattage head

I have a british 30 watt cLass A EL84 Carlsbro amp, and its just perfect for what Man-in-moon is suggesting he requires. > I really really think the yellowjackets might be an option here.

If I had to take a pot shot and guess from all the convo's Moony and I have had.....He wants something along the lines of an EL34 driven 50 watt hi gain head w/ a good clean channel that accepts pedals well and preferably has a half power switch.

Problem is, there's not too many amps out there of that caliber that fits his budget. W/ a decent power amp, he could run 2 pre amps into it and have the best of both worlds and then some.

Re: FT hughes and kettner duotone head for low wattage head

yeah something with a half power switch would work. i just need it to go low enough where i can crank it some. i have thought about a rack setup several times. i actually wanted to go that route before i got this amp. whats bad is i can get a good metal tone and a good clean but i am having a problem getting a good classic rock tone. i have been trying various pedals for that but i cant crank my amp up enough to get the sound to open up. i will consider trading on a good power and preamp set up. oh for pics go to the link http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c331/moonman79/hughes%20and%20kettner/
