FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

I'll PM it to you tonight, as long as you promise not to start building your own or anything.

oh, pfft. I'm not that interested in OD pedals...this looks like a pretty hefty undertaking as far as OD pedals go anyways.

thanks

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

Looks really great to me. I'd be interested in one. I love my GT-500 but I'd love to try one of these out.

Well, I don't know why, but the schematic I created disappeared from my hard drive! I blame the software I was using. :banghead:

So basically, I have to completely re-do the schematic (and I found better software this time: Diptrace). I'll send you a PDF of it when it's done.

Also, thank-you to the others who have asked to be in on the production run! Details will be made available very soon, I promise.

Nice and beefy without the fuzzy. Nice riffing too. Cool demo man.

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

I'm glad to see morre folks have finally viewed the thread/video.

I'm still on the fence about gettin one. I really love the pedal and want one, but I'm just not sure if I'd really use it that much. I kinda think I would, but not sure. I definitely don't need it with my JVM, but I often think my 5150 could use a pedal like this to smooth out the tones a bit on it. The 5150 can be all out balls to the wall, yet it's kind of "grainy" for lack of a better term. I think this pedel would help it out a bit to let me get towards the sounds/tones I like even more. Anyways, I'll let you know man. I think for $100 or whatever is cool. I'll let you know man. I might want you to make mine a little different though with the look of the pedal, but I can do that myself. Anyways, I'm just speaking aloud...lol.

Screw it!! Throw me down for one man. I'll rock that muthuhfruckah out!!

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

I keep coming back to that demo video, and I keep thinking that my 6G6-A could use one of those. Why? Well - mod that brightened the Bass channel is great for clean and gritty, but most OD's just fizz in there. Your FTL Drive seems to be - i dunno - fat sounding, somehow.

This is a serious enquiry from Blighty - what would the cost be to get one over here in the UK. Happy to keep things down by having an unpainted case with no legends (times is hard, man!) but I an VERY interested..... I can PayPal (and will cover their commission too) or whatever suits. So - what would the cost likely be.....

I DIG BRO! I want one.

How about some under the hood shots of her?

Thanks so much for your interest!

Shipping to the EU is a bit problematic because of RoHS. I would have to check to ensure that all the components I use are RoHS compliant, and I'd also have to switch to lead free solder (which is more difficult to work with unfortunately). Either that or I'd have to fudge the customs declaration. I'd like the FTL Drive to be RoHS compliant, but it will take me time to do the due diligence and ensure that it is. That may mean you'll have to wait for a second run, but I will do what I can to see that you and other EU guys can get one in the first run.

RoHS aside, I have no problem shipping across the pond. There will also be a surcharge for shipping over there. Cost information will be available end of today. You will be kept in the loop.

Well, the prototype is a complete mess under the hood compared to what the production model would be, so I don't think I really want to show that in case it scares anyone off. For one thing, I had to use two boards because I ordered pre-made TS boards from General Guitar Gadgets, and put the extra parts of the circuit on a chunk of veroboard. For the production run I will be etching a single PCB that is specifically made for the FTL. Either that, or if I get enough orders (and it looks like I will) I'll get a PCB manufactured for me. That alone will clean things up enormously.

You have my guarantee that the production run pedals will be built to very high standards. I also plan on posting a photo-blog of the pedals as they are being assembled, so you'll get to see your pedal on the "assembly line" while it's being built.

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

That's badass, dude. One of those would cover any OD need I have or could run into. I've got to get on c-list and sell a few things, and then I'll pre pay if that would help with costs.

Sign me up!!

Cool!

FYI: it will be 100% payment up front for everyone. That's the only way I'll be able to afford to do this.

Right on. That's the best way. I've got the ads up on c-list, and when they sell, I'll PM for yer address and shipping costs.

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

Sweet mother of (fill in as apropriate.....), that RoHS stuff is just pants, ain't it!

Man - I want lead in my solder, and lead in my paint, and mercury and cadmium and whatever else the pedal's tone requires. I wonder if you could get round it by selling me an "old" one, one which, "shall we say", was manufactured maybe a few years ago and you "just happened to find". Like - maybe I saw one you soldered up back in, maybe, erm, 1990, and which you sold to me as a used, second-hand, pre-loved collector's piece. Being both an antique and a one off, RoHS ought to not be a problem.:naughty:

**** this "mother knows best", molly-coddling nanny state and it's health and safety obsessions.....

Hey - I have a regular visitor from the US to the UK, ex-commercial pilot married to a former trolley-dolley so they fly for free six times a year. You could ship to him and he could hand baggage it here to me.

Life sure do get complicated, don't it. PM me if any option above sounds acceptable, if not strictly legit.....

I have good news for you: I can get RoHS compliant parts for the whole thing, and I also got some lead-free solder today. Barring a disaster, it looks like I'm a go to ship to the EU.

New thread on the production run appearing tonight in The Trading Post. Anyone who has expressed interest so far will be PM'd.
